How Subconscious Reprogramming Actually Works
If you’re new here welcome to my world! I’ve been casually mentioning subconscious reprogramming in my articles but you might not even know what that means or how and if it would apply to you. To answer that, yes it applies to all humans on Earth. Our entire realities are spun from the thoughts we have daily, 95% of them being unconscious - meaning, they’re stored in the subconscious mind.
There are 3 layers of mind, the conscious, subconscious and superconscious. All of them work together, along with the nervous system to keep us alive and safe. However, they don’t have instructions to keep us happy, fulfilled, joyful or to make sure we are having fun. This is why so many people feel depressed, unfulfilled, like they’re just making it through life and never really thriving.
Think about the subconscious mind as a data bank. It began storing and organizing files about how the world works when you were still in gestation. Your mothers thoughts and beliefs began shaping yours and this continued after birth up until around the age of 7. This is when you develop what I call the critical factor. The critical factor is the part of the mind that acts as a filter between the conscious and subconscious layers. It filters out any information that defies what’s already programmed in the subconscious. That’s why it’s so challenging to start a new habit. However, it’s not impossible.
Our brains are elastic and they can shift and change at any moment, regardless of age. So throw out that old saying “old dog can’t learn new tricks” yes they can, they just have to want to. This phenomenon in science is called neuroplasticity.
Okay, so how does it actually work? Without going into too much detail here, our brains vibrate at different frequencies during different type of activities:
Beta - alertness, thinking, concentration
Alpha - meditation, creativity, relaxation
Theta - visualization, trance, dreaming
Delta - deep sleep & restoration
The reason this is important to understand is because it’s in the theta brainwave state that the critical factor is relaxed enough for new information to enter into the subconscious mind.
So if you really want to change your habits, you have to start by changing your beliefs. IF there are beliefs opposing the new habit you want to create, it can never become who you are until you consciously reprogram it. You do that by entering into a theta brainwave state, finding the opposing belief (becoming aware), and then shifting it to be in support of the new habit you want to create.
It is my goal to make this as digestible as possible so that you can begin understanding what subconscious reprogramming is and how accessible it is to everyone.
